Reaching Out from a Mind as Dirty as All Outdoors

If you get lucky enough, I might post adult-only material from time to time, so be 18 or over, or please be elsewhere.

I'll be discussing erotica here, the writing of it and the people who write it, as well as what we've written. I find all these aspects stimulating, but if any of them bore you, feel free to skim. You never know what you might miss, though.

Wild Girls Blog Tour Day 7, Cheyenne Blue

I’d call today's installment another road trip, except that Cheyenne Blue writes from Australia, much too far from most of us for a road trip, and she tells us about the long ago nursing training in London that’s the source for her story “Nurse Joan.” Best of all, she includes an excerpt that’s both slightly creepy in a dim-hospital-at-night way, and intensely sexy in all sorts of ways.

Go on over there, read, enjoy, and comment there (or here) to be entered for the free book drawing. Fortunately you don’t have to drive all that way.

Wild Girls, Wild Nights Day 5: Blog Tour and Book Giveaway

Day 5 of the Wild Girls, Wild Nights Blog Tour and Book Giveaway is coming right at you!

Today it’s Dawn Mueller’s turn to share the sexual quest that led to her story “Cockadoodle Doo.”

We’ll be featuring one story a day from the book through June 22, and anyone who comments on any of the posts will be entered in a drawing for one of three free copies of the anthology. You can comment on more than one post and be entered more than once. I'll announce the winners by June 25, if not sooner, and ask for mailing info.

Most of these entries will be commentary by the writers themselves, but a few will be reviews by other writers.

Cockadoodle Doo
Dawn Mueller

I wrote “Cockadoodle Doo” in January 2008, shortly after completing the initial draft of A Single Year, my memoir documenting the year I spent on a quest for casual sex. While that year was 2004-2005, various attempts at relationships kept me from completing the book more quickly. As much as I learned about my sexuality during that year, I also learned that romping around in the green, green grass of sexual abundance left me feeling increasingly empty.

I craved a committed relationship, and was prepared to do whatever it took to get it. It didn’t matter if I had to make hard compromises. Things would balance out. That’s how it worked, right? Whatever it was, I was willing to try it, or change it, or do something in service of the relationship. I knew it would be a lot of work, but I was ready!

Unfortunately, the first two women I was with following that year had different ideas. One saw the potential of our relationship as a kind of carnival game and, upon winning the prize, decided that having a big stuffed giraffe took up a lot of space and got in the way far too much. The second was a purely sexual situation that I naively thought I could twist into something more.  Both lasted close to a year but should have never gone beyond 2 months.

Enter the third. Based on where we took each other sexually, it seemed like the third time was, indeed, the charm. Sure, we were driven by sex, but again I thought I could will it into something more. And this time, it did become something more. In a lot of ways it was something greater than I had expected and bigger than I could handle. Even though I knew I was out of my league in nearly every aspect (except sex), I believed it could work.

A significant age difference means maybe you don’t like the same music or your partner doesn’t know what a rotary phone is, but a significantly different standard of living means maybe your partner wears Armani and has a stylist and you wear Old Navy and let a friend cut your hair. While we had a slight age difference (7 years), our living standards were poles apart and much more difficult to overcome.
In spite of it all, we soldiered on. I got the benefit of an extravagant lifestyle and she got… well, I’m not sure what she got. Me, I guess. And from what she told me, I was good to her sexually—the best she’d had.  (This was true for both of us as evidenced in “Cockadoodle Doo.”)

Eventually though, our corporate and non-profit worlds collided and it became clear that no matter how good the sex, it was not enough to compensate for our differences. A lifestyle of corporate dinners with executives, extravagant business trips, and endless hobnobbing, while fun for a while, was not the way I was comfortable living. I didn’t measure up and would never be her equal. So it ended, and it was sad, but I try to look on the bright side and appreciate the good things—great orgasms, delicious food, and beautiful vacations (not to mention a few more stories to tell)!

Dawn Mueller is the author of the recently published memoir, A Single Year. She lives on the north side of Chicago with her chocolate lab, Mousse, and her incorrigible kitten, Kazoo. She writes about lesbians, sex, and relationships and, thankfully, remembers it all the next morning.

Wild Girls, Wild Nights, Day 4: Blog Tour and Book Giveaway

It’s Day 4 of the Wild Girls, Wild Nights Blog Tour and Book Giveaway.

Today Charlotte Dare writes abut her lovely tender, steamy, ultimately bittersweet story of a May-December romance (although I’d call it closer to May-September.)

“Higher Learning”
Charlotte Dare

“Higher Learning” was fun to write and a little bittersweet. If you’ve read any of my other stories, chances are you’ve come across another May-December lesbian romance. I can’t help myself. I’ve loved older women as long as I can remember. A college campus, though, was the last place I expected to meet and fall in love with one beyond my high school fantasy about the sexy closeted professor who would summon me to her cozy little office, remove the hairclip that held her raven-colored bun and pin me against her desk. But as it usually happens in life, the way you envision things and the way they end up working out rarely coincide.

Although the character of Jules is based on me and my first experience with an older woman, I decided to tell it from Corinne’s point of view now that I’m close enough to her age to appreciate her experience. I wanted to imagine how it must’ve felt to be a woman of a certain age involved with a younger woman, to understand the renaissance of the heart it inspires and the physical and emotional insecurities it inevitably reveals. During our dalliance, I spent a lot of time reassuring Corinne that some young, taut co-ed wasn’t going to snatch me away from her, and it made me sad. She was a vibrant, sensual woman who could’ve held her own in any age group.

Unfortunately, our love affair could not endure, not for the physical separation but rather the double-decade separation of our birth years. As I was writing the story, memories of Corinne came alive in my mind, and I’d wondered what had become of her. Maybe after Wild Girls, Wild Nights is released, I’ll find out.

Charlotte Dare’s erotic fiction has appeared in The Harder She Comes: Butch Femme Erotica, Best Lesbian Romance, Best Lesbian Erotica, Lesbian Cowboys, Girl Crazy, Ultimate Lesbian Erotica, Wetter: More True Lesbian Sex Stories, Where the Girls Are, and various online publications. She thanks her red hot lover, Ana, for her endless inspiration.

Wild Girls, Wild Nights Day 3: Blog Tour and Free Book Drawing

Welcome to Day 3 of the Wild Girls, Wild Nights: True Lesbian Sex Stories Blog Tour!

Today we feature Danielle Mignon’s story, “Are You My Mommy?” but Danielle herself is hiding shyly behind a double layer of pseudonyms on this occasion, so I’m filling in.

Danielle Mignon is a lover of live theatre and photography who's been called a grammar geek and control freak.  An editor of countless stories, she's moving to the foreground by putting pen to paper.  Ms. Mignon is a country girl with city tastes and a unique outlook on life.

Here’s an excerpt from her story:

I never realized I wanted to be spanked until the day I called my girlfriend “Mom.”
Actually, I’d called Louisa “Mom” many times before, but always in my trademark self-reflexive mock-teenager tone. For instance, she might ask me to please eat something healthy for dinner and I might say, “Yes, Mom,” or she might comment on what a mess my apartment was and I might say, “I’ll clean it tomorrow, Mom.” It was conscious and innocuous and always, always a joke.
This “Mom” was different.
In truth, I can’t recall what I was so worked up about at the time. Something career-related, most likely. I remember Louisa sitting on the edge of my bed, fully dressed. I was nearly naked and standing between her thighs. My arms rested on her shoulders, my body nestled into the warm comfort of her cleavage as I whined about whatever the trouble was. She ran her hands through my hair in consolation and suddenly I said, “I don’t know what to do about it, Mom.”
I didn’t hear it until after I’d said it, and by that time, of course, I couldn’t take it back. My spine straightened, vertebrae by vertebrae, until I was standing straight as an arrow.
“Did you hear that?” I asked. “I just called you Mom.”
Louisa didn’t react at all the way I expected. She just laughed and said, “Freud would have a field day.”

If you guess that somewhere along the line a good old-fashioned spanking will indeed ensue, you guessed right.

Wild Girls, Wild Nights Day 2: Blog Tour and Free Book Drawing

Welcome to Day 2 of the Wild Girls, Wild Nights: True Lesbian Sex Stories Blog Tour!

Today we have Destiny Moon’s commentary on her story, “Corrupting the Innocent Pornographer.”

Dear Reader,

Let’s talk about the opposite of erotica: bed death. It happens almost automatically as sleepovers increase and we fall into our routines. It’s comforting to watch movies together and cuddle and stay up just a little past bedtime. One time she doesn’t instigate. Another time, you don’t. Next thing you know, you’ve been spooning for a month with not a single mention of the old “forking” days. Har har.
Throw in a little work stress, family drama, or traumatic life event and it becomes even easier to neglect the initial spark. This is a common experience in my circle of friends and I’m glad we talk openly about it. Among other things, we remind each other to purchase Cleis anthologies, new sex toys and massage bars.
I have a friend who has managed to keep her poly triad going – emotionally as well as sexually – for over a dozen years with one lover and nearly half a dozen with the other. Her secret? Conscious effort. She makes time to talk with her lovers and explore new sexual fantasies. They have check-ins about their relationship and don’t take sex for granted. Naturally, there are ups and downs and sometimes she calls me and complains that in spite of having two lovers, she’s not getting as much action as she’d like.
The story I wrote for Wild Girls, Wild Nights is inspired by conscious loving. When my lover and I first started dating, we were determined to be more consciously physical. We’re older and aware of our needs – as one becomes later in life.
I can’t wait to read the hot and steamy true stories in this collection. I’m looking forward to more inspiration and I hope that you find the same between the pages of Wild Girls, Wild Nights. Life is short. Have great sex.

Yours truly,
Destiny

Destiny Moon is a shy and bookish femme who, when she isn't wooing sexy butches, spends a lot of time nerding out in her apartment. She would like to dedicate her story to the pornographer, the source of her inspiration. Visit Destiny's blog at http://eroticauthoress.blogspot.ca/.

Wild Girls, Wild Nights: Blog Tour and Free Book Drawing, Day One

Welcome to Day One of the Wild Girls, Wild Nights: True Lesbian Sex Stories Blog Tour!

Today Miel Rose reviews ”The Daddy I Didn’t Know I Needed” by Angel Propps.

“The Daddy I Didn’t Know I Needed,” as the title suggests, is the story of a woman finding a dyke daddy when she wasn’t even aware of her desire for one.   The story starts off with the narrator asking out the hot butch that always sits in her section at the diner she works in.  As sometimes happens, this gets read as ridicule by the butch and they have a misunderstanding.  Despite this they manage to push through it and forge some hot connection and spur of the moment daddy/girl play.  For the narrator, this sex involves new undercurrents and dynamics she is not entirely sure of the meanings of.  It’s a good thing she has a daddy now to teach her!

“The Daddy I Didn’t Know I Needed” is a showcase of butch/femme vulnerability, and how challenging it can be to try to connect with each other in the outside world.  It’s also a sexy portrayal of how to work a dynamic into sex with someone you’ve just met, something that can be tricky, but in this case works out.  And of course, this story is about the beauty of connecting with your own desire and finding something you didn’t even know you needed.

Angel Propps is a femme leatherdyke, collared submissive, Ms. SouthEast Leather Fest 2011, First Runner-up International Ms. Leather 2012, and multi-published writer of erotica and horror and poetry who spends her time traveling the country with her whip-vending Daddy. They both can be found at various conferences presenting classes and playing in dungeons.

Miel Rose is a queer femme smut writer with ten published stories in various anthologies including The Harder She Comes, Leather Ever After, and the forthcoming Can’t Get Enough.  You can find all of her stories to date in one convenient and attractive collection entitled Overflow: Tales of Butch-Femme Love, Sex, and Desire.  To get your own copy of Overflow or for more information on Miel, visit mielrose.com.
